The Des Moines Choral Festival is excited to provide three luncheon concerts at St. John’s Lutheran Church this summer. The three 30-minute concerts will explore sacred music from all time periods conducted by current graduate students from Simpson College in the Master of Music in Choral Conducting Degree Program. As the resident ensemble of the Des Moines Choral Festival, CORO Artists present this music in partnership with Simpson College. Our journey begins on June 26 with eight Renaissance motets including Josquin des Prez’s Ave Maria, Thomas Tallis’ If Ye Love Me, and Orlando Gibbons’ Hosanna to the Son of David. On July 10, we move forward in time with pieces by Claudio Monteverdi, Heinrich Schütz, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Benjamin Britten. Finally, our July 24th concert includes contemporary composers from around the globe. The Psalms of David are set by Arvo Pärt, Francis Poulenc, Josef Swider, Jocelyn Hagen, Levente Gyongyosi, and Rosephanye Powell. We hope you will join us for this free luncheon series.

These concerts are free. There is reserved seating held until 12:00pm for our Season Ticket holders. Lunch is provided by St. John’s Lutheran after the concert for $6.00 per person.
